The first tip, I didn’t even know about until I started working on my book. There is a very helpful button that is called object for services. That allows you to navigate between the IDoc and the document that is associated with it. I knew about this relationship before from the document to the IDoc.

This procedure is still available in integrated SAP Asset Accounting. Here too, you can park assumed asset acquisitions in clearing accounts in SAP Financial Accounting to post them to the assets at a later point in time. For this “traditional” procedure, SAP Asset Accounting offers special functions.

If the SAP Accounts Payable Accounting and Asset Accounting modules are separate, a posting method via clearing account can/must be used. In a first step, the vendor invoice is available; it is processed with transaction FB60 (Enter Incoming Invoices) and posting record Clearing account to Vendor (see Figure 4.2). (more…)

Why did you decide to write a book on this topic?

Jelena Perfiljeva: There’s a lot of information about the IDocs. It’s not new and exciting knowledge really. I find that the kind of books that are out there, they’re very, very thorough, but they’re also very long and thick. Some of them are out of print actually. There is a lot of information that is just scattered around SCN. As I was answering some questions on SCN, I frequently would ask people to go and read documentation or maybe check out the books.
